Here at the HB Dental Practice Ltd we pride ourselves on the range and

Please note that some of the treatment listed above may not be
available on NHS fees system.
FIRST APPOINTMENT
Our Ten-Point Dental Check-up
We believe in offering a comprehensive assessment of your mouth when
you come to us. We will:
1. Ask you about any concerns you have about your teeth or the appearance
of your teeth
2. Check with you about general health in order to advise if this is
likely impact on your oral health or dental treatment
3. Check your jaw joints for any signs of joint disease that may affect
your ability to eat or chew.
4. Carry out a oral cancer screening inside your mouth
5. Examine the position and bite of your teeth to check for any
irregularities that may require treatment
6. Check your gums for any signs of periodontal (gum) disease
7. Check for any areas where you may be missing when you are cleaning
your teeth so that we can help you maintain your
teeth better
8. Check your teeth for signs of tooth decay
9. Check your teeth for signs of wear, erosion or cracks
10. Check your fillings, crowns, bridges for signs of leakage, cracks, or
tooth decay
In addition we take x-rays in order to check
• The presence of tooth decay in areas which can not be examined by
visual inspection
• The roots of teeth we suspect may have problems
• The level of bone supporting the teeth
• For the position of erupting teeth, including wisdom teeth
• For any other conditions for which x-ray would benefit you
X-rays are taken in accordance with guidelines laid down by the
Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and General Dental Council
regulations..
After the examination, we will advise you of
• Any conditions we find that will require treatment or will benefit you
• The treatment options that are available
• The estimate costs of the treatment in writing
• Actions you will need to take to look after your teeth- this may
involve changing aspects of your teeth cleaning and diet
APPOINTMENTS AND EMERGENCIES
Generally we only see patients who have arranged an appointment.
This can be done by calling us on 0208 4666001, or by visiting our
practice. We would be most grateful if you could give us notice of
cancellation if you can not keep your appointment so we can offer
the time to someone else in need.
Please give us as much notice as possible for cancellations.

EMERGENCIES
An emergency in dental care is normally considered as toothache or
dental pain, swelling, prolonged bleeding after extraction, problem
with front tooth affecting appearance or other conditions for which
the patient is unable to wait for the next available appointment.
During opening hours we will try and give patients with emergency an
appointment as soon as we can, although there might be a wait.
Outside of working hours please contact NHS direct on 0845 4647 open
24 hours.
Who can receive NHS dental treatment at the HB Dental Practice
Ltd ?
NHS dental treatment is available to everyone, for some the
treatment can be provided free of charge.
The following categories of patients do not need to pay for NHS
treatment:
• Those under 18 years of age
• Those between 18 to 19 which are in
full time education
• Those who receiving social security
benefits (income support, family credit, jobseekers allowance)
• Ladies who are pregnant or have a
baby in the past twelve months
Everyone else needs to pay for the NHS treatment.
• Here are now three standard charges
for NHS dental treatment. This makes it easier to know how much you
may need to pay
and also helps ensure that
you are being charged for NHS care (rather than private care).
From April 1 2008, NHS dental charges will be:
• Band 1 course of treatment -
£16.20
This covers an
examination, diagnosis (e.g. x-rays), advice on how to prevent
future problems, and a scale and polish if
needed.
• Band 2 course of treatment - £44.60
This covers everything listed in
Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root
canal work or if your dentist
needs to take out one or
more of your teeth.
• Band 3 course of treatment - £198.00
This covers everything
listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus necessary crowns, dentures or
bridges.
• Urgent treatment - £16.20
If you require urgent
care, but your urgent treatment needs more than one appointment to
complete, you will only need to pay
one charge of £16.20.
